LORRIES
Lorries are causing considerable damage to our village because they are parking inconsiderately (too close to roundabouts and road junctions), and churning up the verges. The Parish Council has met with various agencies and is planning to have 2 "pinch points" placed on the ring road - one near the Hotel, and another just past Viking Way. These will have signs informing drivers that they are entering a residential area. We are also negotiating with the Highways Agency to have a sign on the A14 discouraging lorry drivers from coming into Bar Hill to park. Neither of these things is going to happen quickly because the Parish Council is relying on other agencies for permission and to do the work.
In March's edition of the Bar Hill News the Clerk is asking residents to help in collecting evidence about the nuisance which lorries are causing. The Parish Council is urging residents NOT to approach the drivers. The best evidence is photographic, with date and time if you have the technology. If not, make a note of the name and address of the company, the date and time the lorry is parked and where, and put it through the Parish Council's letter box. You may do this anonymously if you wish. The Clerk and the Police will then have the ability to telephone the lorry driver's company and complain. The Police have told the Parish Council that when they have done this, the company has penalised the lorry driver financially.
An organisation has been formed by the local businesses in Trafalgar Way to try to protect their environment from litter (and worse) which is regularly left by the lorry drivers.
Don't let this nuisance continue without fighting back! Help the Parish Council and the Police to help us - the residents of Bar Hill.
